State of Semi Pro/Minor League Football in great lakes. Part 2

And welcome back for part two of my breakdown of the state of minor league football in Indiana specifically, I will touch on the other surrounding states as well.

Continuing to talk about the Indiana teams, next on my list is the Indy Fire hawk’s the team that everyone said would win it all in 2022 after the less than stellar win over the #1 Wolverines in week 1 of the UFL 14-6 they would ride that wave for a few weeks until they had to give up the forfeit win to the Outlaws and then losing to the Outlaws in the 2nd half of the season then blowing a lead in the playoffs to miss their chance to go to the conference championship. However, don’t count this team out, they have good staff and are adding some more key front office people for the 2023 season. They are also playing in the fall league to keep the rust off so that will give them an advantage, the question that remains’ unanswered is are they staying in the UFL to make a run, now that the Tigers are in the MCFL they have a good chance to run the table.

Lake County Warriors, have been so close to winning it all the last 4 years but have come up short, losing in the conference championship in 2020,2021,2022 and continue to claw at that championship, great coaching staff with owner/coach Marcus Thompson and now with the rise of the MCFL will they be able to get to that mountain and finally bring home a championship to NW Indiana? Remains to be seen, with NE rivals Fort Wayne Tigers, and soon to be Indy rivals Indy Bison the competition just got a bit tougher.

Another Indy team the Assassins who made it to the BGFL championship in 2022 and lost to the Kentuckiana Calvary shocked the city by doing so, and just upset the Indy Firehawk’s in fall ball, apparently, they stacked their team for this match up and won, but again its fall ball and if they stay in the now MCFL much tougher competition is on the horizon and I am sure the Firehawk’s didn’t have the full roster from the UFL season, so with all the added teams the road to victories may be a little bit tougher than a fall league game, but A for effort for sure.

That brings me to the Return of the Thunderhawk’s that is right 2x BGFL champ from 5 years ago back and is heading to the UFL, the T-Hawks were on a few years hiatus and now will be back in business in 2023, and they look to have a decent season and will have the Motor City Outlaws to contend with and that will be no tall task.

More to come in part 3 of my state of the semi-pro Football in Indiana
